Components for vehicle doors
The ever-increasing variety of car types in the automotive industry requires individual solutions as well as flexible production and a high level of automation. The consistent use of tried and tested standard components in different series and for different makes leads to lower investments and stable product quality.
Brose’s continuous development of products focuses on solutions which bring the automakers economical and technical benefits. The high mechanical efficiency of the window regulators, for example, enables the use of smaller electro-motors, the compact design allows easy assembly in the vehicle door.
Providing greater comfort and safety when opening and closing the windows has always been a major aspect of our product development work. Brose was the first supplier of electronical window regulator control units that are today standard all over the world. They meet the most stringent legal requirements, guarantee limitation of the window closing force, and hence minimize the risk of injury from power window regulators.

Window Regulators
To date we have delivered more than 800 million window regulator systems to over 40 car makers. We currently equip approximately 200 vehicle models with our products.

Cable window regulator
The double-guided cable window regulator is one of the door components most frequently used for moving the window. The force transmission via a steel cable allows smooth movement of the glass.

Cross arm window regulator
The upward raising force of the cross arm window regulator is divided between two arms: this technology is used primarily for larger windows to ensure smooth motion.

Track-guided window regulator
Brose has developed the track-guided window regulator for convertible and coupe frameless rear windows which go into the roof or soft/hard top while the door is being closed. It can also realize complex glass movements. The short stroke function allows the glass to be lowered approx. 5 mm when the door is opened or closed.
Closure Systems
As far as the development of door latches is concerned, the focus is primarily on system functions which meet the car driver’s increased safety and comfort requirements: less effort required while opening the door, low-noise closing and better anti-theft protection.

Soft Open® latch
Soft Open® is what Brose calls a new closure system which acoustically and mechanically dampens side-doors and gates, enabling easier and quieter opening and closing. The release force of this latch is 70% lower compared to conventional vehicle latches. Nevertheless, very high sealing forces of 1,000 Newtons – more than double today’s systems – can be achieved in the door, positively impacting the level of wind and travel noise in the passenger compartment. Furthermore it enhances crash safety.

Side-door latch
The mechanical basic side-door latch with central locking and optional anti-theft protection facilitates assembly in the door. Due to highly automated production technology, this latch can be used for different car models.

Electrical latch
Brose electrical latches have a permanent power supply ensuring a higher level of safety than comparable mechanical variants. Integrated electronics allow for ease of use: despite high seal counterforces, the time it takes to open a door is less than 50 milliseconds. Due to the reduction in material used, this system can provide the automakers with weight savings as well as complete design freedom.
