Components for vehicle seats

We meet the increasing demand for comfort functions by continuously developing its seat adjusters. The company has launched cost-optimized solutions for different comfort functions on the market which previously were only to be found in vehicles of the upper-range and luxury segment cars. Weight savings, crash safety, acoustics and user-friendliness are the focal points of our development activities.

In order to assure the crossmodel use of similar parts, we chose early on to standardize its seat adjustment systems. An intelligent interface concept makes the range of variants required by the car makers possible: Modular system design can provide the optimum solution for every model.

Seat length adjustment
The standardized rail profiles enable the universal use of manual (photo) and power length adjusters. The manual version is equipped with a special safety mechanism. After activating the adjuster lever, at least one bolt locks the seat.  The Brose standard gear is integrated into the rail of the power length adjuster, providing assembly space benefits for the automaker. This gear unit has been used for eight years now in large-volume series production. 5 million are produced a year.

Easy-Entry

The Easy-Entry function provides a high level of comfort in three-door cars. Using one hand, the manual seat can be moved into the more foremost position facilitating entry into the rear of the car. When it is folded a memory block is placed on the lower rail, saving the last seat setting. With regard to the EasyEntry function in power seats, the speed of adjustment is double as high.

Seat height adjustment

The manual height adjuster (above) allows the seat to be infinitely adjusted using a pump mechanism. Compared to conventional solutions, the gear unit for the power seat height adjuster (below) has been optimised in design: it is more compact requiring less material.

Seat adjuster

Standard components permit an economical combination of different functions in the seat adjuster. The basic length, height and tilt adjustments are possible. The seat cushion can also be extended, a further comfort enhancement. The seat adjuster can be supplied as a manual, power or partially-powered version.

Backframe structure and backframe adjuster
The new laser-welded backframe structure provides benefits in terms of weight, costs and strength. Furthermore, Brose has extended its product spectrum for complete metal structure with its rotary and lever recliner.  The manual play-free lever recliner is based on a new locking principle and can be adjusted much more finely.  The rotary recliner can be supplied in a manual and power version.

Lumbar support

The lumbar support enables an optimal adjustment of the backcushion  to the user's size and back shape, preventing a wrong sitting posture or muscular tension. Depending on the customer’s specifications, a manual 2-way (right) or power 4-way lumbar support (left) from Brose’s system kit can be integrated into the backrest of the seat. The power version can also include a massage function controlled by Brose-developed electronics.
4-way headrest adjuster
Incorrectly-set headrests pose a safety risk and are often the reason for whiplash injuries occurring in rear-end collisions. With its new kind of 4-way headrest Brose provides a solution where the setting is optimally suited to each respective car occupant: by means of an electric field, sensors detect the position of the head and adjust the right height and distance accordingly.

Brose Easy Belt®
The power seat-belt-carrier facilitates buckling up. The functionality is based on a tooth-shaft gear-drive with a small motor. The design with its own patents enables use even where there is little space, since the required travel range of the seat-belt-carrier is achieved with 15 ° twist and curve in the tooth shaft, which minimizes the packing space required between seat and door. The feature's space-saving integration in the side panel ensures that the look of the interieur in its entirety is not impaired.
