Holzgerlingen (October 17, 2005). Brose, the international automotive supplier, initiated construction activities for a production facility in Holzgerlingen/Weil im Schönbuch with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony on 17 October 2005. This event marks the start of new future-oriented project for the company and the region. Beginning in the summer of 2006, the JIS plant will supply door systems for various car models of the Mercedes brand in line with the customer's own production schedule at the Mercedes plant eleven kilometers away.

Brose currently produces door systems for the S-Class in a rented production hall in Herrenberg. As another two car models are to be equipped with these products as well, Brose is extending its production capacities by establishing a production facility in Holzgerlingen/Weil im Schönbuch, in the Sol industrial park at Max-Brose-Strasse 1, over the next nine months.

In June 2006, employees and the production line for S-Class door systems are to relocate from Herrenberg to Holzgerlingen. Once door system production for another two car models commences, daily production figures are expected to increase from the current 1,500 pieces to 9,000.

The partnership between DaimlerChrysler and the Brose Group has existed for 75 years. "Based on this fair collaboration over such a long time, we have established this new location and look forward to further long-term business relations," said Michael Stoschek, President and CEO of the Brose corporate group in Holzgerlingen.

The DaimlerChrysler Group is one of Brose's most important customers. Currently, 40 vehicle models of the Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Smart and Maybach brands are equipped with window regulators, seat adjusters, door systems and closure systems. Brose develops and manufactures these products at 16 locations in Europe, North and South as well as South Africa.
