Bavarian Minister of Interior visits Brose
Coburg (August 9, 2007). On opening his car door during his visit to Coburg, Dr. Günther Beckstein, Minister of the Interior, accidentally hit something. “This wouldn’t have happened with the newest Brose technology“, said the designated Minister President of Bavaria during a presentation of Brose products. While touring the production, he gained a first-hand impression of the international automotive supplier’s efficiency. The CSU politician was particularly interested in a power drive solution with anti-collision protection for opening and shutting doors.
Just like the State of Bavaria, the Brose Group, based in the Upper Franconian town of Coburg, stood for tradition and progress said Beckstein. The fact that the company was successful in a hard-fought market merited recognition. With a history of almost 100 years, it has always been at the very forefront of progress with its products and processes, frequently paving the way for new trends.
Beckstein expressly praised the company for providing thousands of jobs in Upper Franconia; the efforts to maintain a high level of employment on the shop floor at the location of Coburg were not something to be regarded as a matter of course.
Brose currently employs approx. 3,500 people at the Upper Franconian central locations of Coburg and Hallstadt as well as safeguarding the jobs of a further 1,500 working for supplier companies in the region.
Beckstein was impressed by Brose’s ranking on the worldwide standings of the automobile suppliers where the company comes in 53rd; 7th out of the family-owned companies. Responding to Beckstein’s question regarding what objectives the company had set itself, Michael Stoschek, Chairman of the Brose Group, answered: “We intend to get even further ahead.” Similar to their namesakes, the Brose Baskets, who won the German Championship in June, the automotive supplier is also striving for the top.
Beckstein will possibily take the opportunity to witness in person the dynamic and sporting spirit of the Brose Baskets: Stoschek invited him to Bamberg to watch a match. “An exciting prospect; there’s always something in motion – just like at Brose,” commented Beckstein.
