Worldwide idea management helps save costs
Coburg (03.05.2006.) Modern idea management can be highly effective. Through the implementation of employee suggestions, cost structures are optimized and the efficiency of the company enhanced. Last year saw an equally high level of participation in the company’s improvement suggestion scheme.
A total of 10,500 ideas were submitted, about 4 percent more than the previous year. The implemented suggestions resulted in cost savings of almost 5 million euros for the company. Bonuses totalling approx. 262,000 euros were paid out to those Brose employees who come up with the ideas. The highest level of participation was at the Mexican plant with 82 percent, followed by Ghent/Belgium with 66 percent and Meerane with 65 percent. The most improvement suggestions per employee were submitted at Hallstadt.
Reinhold Wirsing from the company’s improvement suggestion scheme explained: “Brose’s success is, to a great extent, due to its innovative strength. That’s why we constantly support employees’ endeavors to eliminate errors and to achieve very good results with the least effort.” The scheme was launched at Brose in 1969 and has evolved into modern idea management which is practised today at 19 locations.
