Support for young prospective engineers
The program, which was started in the winter semester of 2000/2001, is being extended to the Fachhochschule Schweinfurt, the Technische Universität Illmenau and the Universität Erlangen. The automotive supplier wants to reach performance-oriented students, focusing on engineering at the universities near its locations of Coburg and Hallstadt. Besides giving them financial support, the program is meant to make it easier for them to plan and prepare their career. Executive Vice-President Alexander Tietje, who is responsible for the scholarship program, also wants to give a chance to students who are in the middle of their studies.
What is new, too, is that only the students, who decide to join Brose after their graduation, get the full support. All the others have to repay half of the money interest-free. In this way, perhaps more than ten students will benefit from one of our scholarships, because we will be able to invest the returned money in other students worthy of a scholarship, was the reason Tietje gave for this limitation.
At the moment Brose gives each scholarship student DM500 a month. This money should enable the students, free now of any worries about their financial predicament, to concentrate more on their studies. Apart from receiving monthly financial support, the students are also extensively supervised and can acquire extra qualifications alongside their studies, by going on internships abroad or doing their diploma thesis in the corporate group.
The application for a scholarship must be sent to Brose (Zentrales Personal, Ketschendorfer Str. 38-50, D-96450 Coburg) by 17 August 2001. The contact person is Matthias Müller, Tel: 0049/9561/21-1953
