Michael Stoschek (62) is Chairman of the Brose Group. He had run the company for over 34 years before handing over the position of CEO to his successor, Jürgen Otto, in December 2005.

Grandson of the Max Brose, the company’s founder, he became a head office trainee at Siemens AG and studied business administration at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. At the age of 23, Stoschek took over the then Metallwerk Max Brose & Co. with a business volume of 25 million euros in 1971.

Under his management, Brose has evolved from being a national to an international manufacturer of mechatronic components and systems for vehicle doors and seats. In 2005, the Brose Group with its turnover of 2.2 billion euros was the eighth-largest family-owned automotive supplier. There are 9,000 employees working for the company at almost 40 locations in 19 countries.

Michael Stoschek is an honorary citizen of the community of Ahorn where he provides backing for several social organizations as well as being one of the initiators of the „Neue Innenstadtkonzept“ (a concept aimed at promoting further local urban development of his home town). In 2003, Stoschek was awarded the initiative prize of the Stiftung Industrieforschung, he received the German Federal Cross of Merit (First Class) and was named Family Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005. Since 2006, Stoschek has headed the board of trustees of the World Cultural Heritage Trust of the city of Bamberg.

In January 2007, Stoschek was unanimously elected President of Coburg’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce. In this capacity, he pressed ahead with the further development of the town and region, calling for a business-oriented policy. As this endeavour was hampered by politics, Stoschek resigned prematurely from this honorary post on 24th June, 2008.
