Marco Lauterbach, Project Engineer

"Why did I go to Asia? The demanding assignment of developing door systems and working in an international team were real challenges for me. Day-to-day work in our office in South Korean Ansan, which is only an hour from the capital city of Seoul, helped build a strong team.

Looking back, I can say that I have a far better understanding of other cultures. I think that the intercultural training offered by Brose in preparation for foreign assignments is really helpful; it is particularly important for work in Asia."

Andi Langguth, Team Supervisor Seat Adjusters

"I was hesitant before going on my first foreign assignment; the thorough preparations however promptly eased my mind.

I decided to accept the position as design supervisor in Detroit/USA. During my three-year stay, I not only advanced my career but also met my wife.

Directly afterwards, I was given the opportunity to work another two years at our British location in Coventry. I was not familiar with the area, but the design manager position appealed to me. So I went – a decision I do not regret. The job was as challenging and multi-faceted as it had been in the USA and teamwork with colleagues was smooth. In retrospect, I see these as demanding, but rewarding times."

Manuela Florschütz, Director Controlling

“I had always dreamed of working abroad. When I was offered a chance by Brose to work for three years as a controller at the Querétaro plant in Mexico, I seized the opportunity.

Life in Mexico is in many ways different from life in Germany; some of the conveniences taken for granted in Germany are simply not available. However, with improvisation and open-mindedness to a foreign culture, I successfully settled in to the Mexican style of life, both professionally and privately.

I have in fact adjusted so well that I extended my contract a further three years. My experiences during my foreign assignment have provided great personal enrichment. Looking back, I know I would do it all over again.”
